Kathryn Bronson (formerly Kathryn Myers) is a Certified Professional Midwife serving women and their families in Bangor, Maine and the surrounding areas.
Kathryn has been interested in pregnancy and birth since she was a child. She began researching midwifery and homebirth as a sophomore in college at the University of Pittsburgh. While working towards a bachelor’s degree in English Writing, she began volunteering at her local maternity ward, interviewing midwives, and completing a certificate program in Women’s Studies . She graduated in 2007 and went on to work as a medical assistant in a women’s health center. During that time, she attended several births, which solidified her desire to study midwifery.
Kathryn was accepted into Birthwise Midwifery School in 2008 and spent the next three years completing coursework and clinicals at the school in Bridgton, Maine, as well as apprenticing with homebirth midwives in Maine, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. She graduated from Birthwise in 2011 and went on to work as a midwife in the Amish community of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
After passing the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) exam in February 2012 and achieving her certification as a Professional Midwife (CPM), Kathryn joyfully opened her own midwifery practice, Apple Blossom Midwifery, in the summer of 2012.
